Editorial Policy

Last updated: May 2026

Daily Energy News is committed to publishing accurate, independent, and useful energy journalism for Australians. This policy sets out the standards and practices our editorial team follows in producing every article, guide, and data report published on this site.

1. Editorial Independence

Daily Energy News operates independently of all energy industry participants. We are not owned by, affiliated with, or funded by any energy retailer, generator, network operator, battery manufacturer, solar company, or government body.

Our editorial decisions — including which stories to cover, how to report them, and what conclusions to draw — are made solely by our editorial team. Advertising relationships have no influence on our content. We do not accept payment for editorial coverage, sponsored articles, or product placement.

2. Accuracy Standards

We hold ourselves to the following accuracy standards:

  • All statistics, prices, and data points are sourced from verifiable primary sources including AEMO, the Clean Energy Regulator, the Australian Energy Regulator, government departments, and official company announcements
  • We do not publish figures we cannot verify. Where exact data is unavailable, we say so explicitly
  • Dollar amounts are expressed in Australian dollars (AUD) unless otherwise stated
  • Energy prices and rebate amounts change frequently. We include publication dates on all content and update guides when we become aware of material changes
  • We distinguish clearly between confirmed facts, analyst forecasts, and editorial commentary

3. Sources & Attribution

We rely on primary sources wherever possible. Our key data sources include:

  • Australian Energy Market Operator (aemo.com.au)
  • Clean Energy Regulator (cer.gov.au)
  • Australian Energy Regulator (aer.gov.au)
  • Australian Energy Market Commission (aemc.gov.au)
  • Federal Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water
  • State and territory government energy departments
  • Electric Vehicle Council (electricvehiclecouncil.com.au)
  • Solar industry bodies and manufacturer data sheets

When we quote or reference a source, we identify it clearly. We link to original source documents where publicly available.

4. Use of AI-Assisted Research

Daily Energy News uses AI tools to assist in the research and drafting of articles. All AI-assisted content is reviewed for accuracy against primary sources before publication. Our editorial team verifies statistics, checks source data, and ensures all published content meets our accuracy standards regardless of how it was drafted.

AI tools are used to improve the efficiency of our research process — not to replace editorial judgement. All published content reflects the editorial standards described in this policy.

5. Corrections Policy

We take corrections seriously. If we publish information that is factually incorrect, we will:

  • Correct the error as quickly as possible after it is brought to our attention
  • Add a correction note to the affected article indicating what was changed and when
  • Not silently delete or alter content without acknowledging the change

To report a factual error, please email editorial@dailyenergynews.com.au with the article URL and the specific inaccuracy you have identified. We respond to all correction requests within two business days.

6. Content Types

We publish three categories of content:

  • News articles — Reporting on recent developments in Australian energy markets, policy, and technology. News articles are anchored to a specific recent event or announcement and clearly dated.
  • Guides — Practical, evergreen consumer guides covering topics such as solar installation costs, battery comparisons, EV purchasing decisions, and electricity plan selection. Guides are reviewed and updated periodically.
  • Data pages — Live electricity price data sourced directly from AEMO, updated automatically every five minutes.

7. Advertising

Daily Energy News displays advertising through the Google AdSense network. Advertisements are clearly separated from editorial content. We do not publish native advertising, sponsored posts, or any paid content that is presented as independent editorial.

Advertising revenue supports the operation of this publication but does not influence our editorial coverage in any way.

8. Consumer Information Disclaimer

Content published on Daily Energy News is intended for general informational purposes. Nothing on this site constitutes financial, legal, or professional advice. Energy prices, rebates, and government programs change frequently — always verify current details directly with the relevant authority before making any purchasing or financial decision.
